Attendance Policy
We kindly request that you take a moment to familiarize yourself with our attendance policy. This ensures a smooth and consistent experience for your child and supports their full engagement in our daily learning programs.
Introduction
At Crystal House Kindergarten and Daycare, regular attendance is essential for your child’s growth, development, and consistent engagement in our programs. This policy outlines our expectations and guidelines to ensure a smooth and positive experience for all children and their families.
Regular Attendance
We strongly encourage regular attendance to provide your child with the full benefit of our structured daily routines and learning activities. Frequent attendance helps children:
- Build familiarity with daily routines and class structures.
- Establish meaningful relationships with peers and teachers.
- Enhance their learning and development through continuous participation in class activities.
Parents are expected to ensure their children attend consistently. In cases where a child is absent, it is essential to communicate the reasons to the administration to keep the child’s learning plan on track.
Arrival and Departure Times
Our operating hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Timely arrival and departure are critical for smooth transitions throughout the day.
Arrival: Children should arrive no later than 9:30 AM to participate in important morning activities, such as Circle Time and structured educational sessions. This ensures that your child is ready to begin the day alongside their peers and avoids disruption to the class.
Departure: All children should be picked up by 3:30 PM. If you foresee any delay, please notify the staff in advance.
For safety reasons, we require parents, guardians, or authorized persons (as indicated on your child’s registration form) to sign children in and out every day.
Late Pickup Policy
We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise; however, we request that all children be picked up on time.
Late Pickup Fee: A late fee will be charged for any pickup after 3:30 PM. This ensures that our staff is compensated for their time and that children do not experience extended waits.
Communication: In case of emergencies or unavoidable delays, please call us immediately to inform the staff of your expected arrival time. We will keep your child safe and engaged while awaiting pickup.
Absence and Illness
It is essential for the well-being of all children that unwell children remain at home to prevent the spread of illness.
Illness: Children showing symptoms of contagious illnesses, such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or rashes, must be kept at home until fully recovered. If a child becomes ill during the day, parents will be notified to arrange for an immediate pickup.
Notification of Absences: In the case of illness or other reasons for your child’s absence, please notify us by 8:00 AM on the day of the absence by phone or email. This ensures that we are aware of your child’s status and can make appropriate adjustments.
Extended Absences: For planned extended absences, such as vacations, please inform us in advance to help manage your child’s learning continuity.
Emergency Absences
Should you be unable to pick up your child on time due to an emergency, please contact us immediately. We will provide care for your child until you or an authorized individual arrives.
- Emergency Contacts: Ensure that your child’s emergency contact list is up to date with authorized individuals who can pick up your child in case of an unforeseen situation.
Holidays and Closures
Crystal House observes the following public holidays: New Year’s Day, Easter, Labor Day, Christmas, and other holidays as listed on our yearly calendar. We are committed to providing ample notice for any additional closures, such as professional development days or special events.
Holiday Schedule: A calendar of public holidays and scheduled closures will be provided at the start of the academic year.
Unexpected Closures: In the case of inclement weather or other emergencies that require sudden closure, we will notify parents through email and SMS by 6:00 AM on the day of the closure.
Impact of Attendance on Progress
Regular attendance is critical to your child’s overall development and academic progress. Prolonged or frequent absences can:
- Disrupt their learning process.
- Impact their social integration within the class.
- Delay the achievement of important developmental milestones.
In cases of persistent absenteeism, the administration may request a meeting to address attendance concerns and identify possible support mechanisms for the family.
Reporting Absences
To report your child’s absence, please use the following guidelines:
- Daily Absences: Notify the school by phone or email no later than 8:00 AM on the day of the absence, providing the reason and expected duration.
- Extended Absences: If your child will be absent for more than three days, please notify the office with as much advance notice as possible.
Your Role in Attendance
We view the relationship between parents and Crystal House as a partnership. To support your child’s attendance, you can:
- Ensure punctual arrival and pickup times.
- Communicate promptly with staff about absences, illnesses, or any concerns regarding attendance.
- Participate in meetings if necessary to discuss attendance and your child’s development.
Thank you for your attention to these important guidelines. By working together, we ensure that every child at Crystal House Kindergarten and Daycare enjoys a stable, enriching, and successful experience.
